Budget & scope

How much should a custom business website cost?

Compare the whole project: pages, content, integrations, ownership and the costs after launch.

The starting point

A useful website budget covers the build, the work needed to prepare content and the cost of keeping the site running. Compare written scopes before comparing headline prices.

Start with the job the website needs to do

A five-page website for one service is a different project from a ten-page site with several audiences and a booking connection. Start by listing the decisions a customer needs to make: whether you cover their area, what you offer, whether you are a credible choice and how to enquire. Those decisions should shape the pages.

For a service business, a sensible first scope often includes a home page, a service overview, one or two detailed service pages, an about page and a contact page. Legal pages also need attention. Confirm how the supplier counts pages and whether policy pages are included in the allowance.

Our fixed website packages

Charlie’s Web Design build packages
PackageBuild pricePage allowanceDelivery
Essentials£1,950Up to 5 pages3–7 days
Established£2,450Up to 7 pages7–10 days
Extended£3,450Up to 10 pages10–14 days

Use the GBP/USD switch to see the two fixed price lists. These are our packages, not a claim about average market prices. Delivery is in calendar days from the agreed start, with content and access ready. Your proposal confirms the schedule, scope, currency and total payable.

The build includes an agreed design direction, responsive development, review rounds, search foundations and handover. Copy polish has a word allowance; new copywriting, photography, custom applications and ecommerce need their own scope. See the full package details and budget calculator.

Include the costs after launch

Our optional hosting starts at £25 per month. Website care is £99 per month and enhanced care is £179 per month. Care includes the stated allowance for small edits; it is not an unlimited redesign service. Domain renewals, mailbox licences and external subscriptions are separate.

For example, Essentials with standard website care totals £1,950 + 12 × £99 in year one. Use the calculator for the selected currency. If you need frequent new pages, substantial writing or a CRM connection, ask for that work to be itemised instead of assuming it is included.

No UK VAT is added by PHK MEDIA LTD because it is not VAT registered. The written proposal confirms the total payable and any applicable treatment for your project. Your bank or payment provider may apply its own fees.

Five questions to ask about every quote

  • Which pages and customer journeys are included, and what will trigger an extra charge?
  • Who supplies the text, photographs and business facts? How much writing is included?
  • How many consolidated review rounds are included, and what counts as a revision?
  • Will the existing domain, email and useful page URLs be preserved or moved carefully?
  • What files, access, licences and support will I receive after payment?

Choose a scope you can maintain

Buy the smallest scope that properly explains your business and makes the right action easy. A larger page allowance is useful when it answers real questions; it is not useful simply because it produces more pages.

Send your current site, the services you want to prioritise and your preferred budget. We can decide whether a replacement, a smaller improvement or a broader project makes sense. Discuss your website scope.
